Theresa Rebeck's Bad Dates at Olney Theatre Center is a comical romp through one woman's closet as she prepares for one bad date after another. If you thought one-woman plays were boring, think again -- the 600 pairs of shoes and characters off stage more than make up for the absence of other actors.

Phillipa Gregory's novel receives its second film treatment with The Other Boleyn Girl, the first being a TV movie in 2003. A strong cast, stunning costumes, and juicy drama make this film very entertaining, even if not historically accurate. It is after all based on a novel, and does not claim to be biographical.

Olney Theatre Center kicks off their 2008 season on a high note with John Patrick Shanley's Doubt: A Parable. Audience members may come away from the play having doubts about what actually occurred (or didn't occur), but there is no doubt that this thought-provoking drama is a rousing success!

Hats off to Artistic Director Blake Robison for producing the World Premiere of Karen Zacarías' comedy The Book Club Play as part of the Round House Theatre's 2007/2008 season. Expanding their horizons from productions of literary adaptations, this play is a very entertaining and refreshing contemporary work about people who love to read books.

Shekhar Kapur's follow-up to his hugely successful 1998 film Elizabeth suffers in comparison to the first film, as most sequels do. However, it is still an enormously entertaining portrayal of one of the most fascinating women in history, with a stellar cast, wonderful cinematography, and dazzling costumes.

The treasure-loving trio are back in National Treasure: Book of Secrets, another high-stakes adventure searching for treasure in the name of historical honor. If you thought there would be no way to top stealing the declaration of independence, you would be wrong -- this time the trail to treasure leads through Buckhingham Palace and the Oval Office!

Wintuk, the latest in the Cirque du Soleil offerings, advertises itself as "an enchanting tale for the whole family about a boy's quest for snow." This show is definitely more kid-friendly than previous Cirque spectacles, with more of a plot than usual, as the tag line boasts. Neither of these features is actually an improvement, unless of course you want to bring children to the show. For those of us who are Cirque du Soleil junkies, this is a somewhat diluted production. However, that being said, it is still highly entertaining.
