Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story (2005) - The title may not be inspiring, but the film definitely is! Another strong performance by young Dakota Fanning makes this feel-good family drama come alive! And her supporting cast of Kurt Russel, Kris Kristofferson, and Elisabeth Shue (among others) is not too shabby either. The story is predictable, but we love being reminded that dreams do come true! The Tale of Despereaux (2008) - It's impossible not to love a mouse who refuses to be taught to cower, and who thinks of himself as a knight on a quest to save a beautiful princess! Matthew Broderick is endearing as the title character, and Dustin Hoffman brings a lot of heart to his rat pal Roscuro, who doesn't want to be like other rats. Another all-star cast, including Emma Watson, Tracey Ullman, Kevin Kline, William H. Macy, Stanley Tucci, and more!

Up (2009) - A delightful and colorful animated film about a man who embarks on an adventure at the age of 78, and the relationship he develops with the boy who accidentally goes along for the ride. The formula of the crotchety older man eventually being won over by the youngster goes back to Shirley Temple, but it never grows old. And Ed Asner is perfect for the role! The animation is beautiful -- catch it in 3D if you can. A very sweet and touching film. A better title would have been Uplifting!

Monsters vs. Aliens (2009) Fun vs. Fun. Anyway you look at it, this is a fresh take on the underdog-turned-hero theme! With characters as lovable as these monsters, it turns out you don't need a brain to have a roaring good time watching this film! A wonderful all-star cast, including Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Kiefer Sutherland, Stephen Colbert, and more!
